18th June - The Curry and Playstation Evening at 5 Moseley Road proved to be a great night for everyone who came. Even though we all got thoroughly trashed on "Pro-skater 4" by Dave's Clarks' son--before he finally got sent to bed(!)--everyone managed to play lots of PS2 and X-box, had a great time chatting/having a laugh and were able to eat plenty of delicious curry too! Hope there will be another night like this again soon. Thanks to all that organised the event.
13th June - Football on the Big Screen - If you ignore the final score of England 1: France 2 then this was a really fun event. A mix of around 60 people from across the church family (but mainly teenagers and students) gathered in the large hall of the Upper Room to watch the match projected onto a HUGE screen. Everyone came dressed for the occasion with football strips, flags and hats. The cheering (and booing) was only momentarily quietened at half-time while everyone enjoyed hot-dogs and cake! COME ON ENGLAND!
6th June - Praise and Prayer session - This was a great evening in church with Jonny Miles and the youth band. We learnt lots of new songs plus a chance to practise and sing some of our favourites. The music was interspersed with testimony and prayers. It was wonderful to see our NET teenagers and our 24:7 group uniting to praise God together.
15th May - Northern Men's Convention - Held at Manchester University, the NMC 2004 was a great encouragement to all concerned. There were around 1000 men there in all, with excellent teaching and a good chance to encourage one another in song and in conversation. Ask anyone who went about rugby references at weddings....
7th May - Girls' Chocolate and Wine Evening - A brilliant 24:7 girls' night was had on 7th May. 13 girls (and strictly NO men) shared an evening of wine, games, chat and copious amounts of pudding and chocolate (the fondue was the best!). Most people were new to each other which was testimony to the good work of 24:7 to encourage fellowship and support among the young adults within our church family. Everyone left the evening knowing each other better and feeling very fat! Thanks to Claire for hosting the event in her flat and for those who helped prepare and serve - can't wait for the next one!
